CONTEXT

Client, which operates in a rapidly growing data centre services market, wanted to transform to improve operational efficiency and create a platform to support further growth.

CHALLENGE

  • A lengthy, well documented strategy existed but this had been prepared by external parties (new owners) with limited involvement of the divisional management team.

  • Clear strategic framework was needed in order to make the best choices for the design and implementation of the transformation.

  • The strategic framework had to be established quickly as the transformation programme was planned to a demanding timetable.

APPROACH

  • Conducted a desk-based review of the available strategy documentation, able to highlight questions, uncertainties and concerns.

  • Interviewed the Leadership Team to explore different aspects of the strategy to establish the degress of alignment, misalignment and gaps.

  • Reported our findings back to the Leadership Team and confirmed the strategic framework for the transformation.

OUTCOME

  • Established a clearer framework for the proposed transformation so that they could prioritise effectively and choose between different options in the best way.

  • Prompted the Leadership Team to address gaps in the strategic planning which helped assure delivery of strategic objectives.

  • Generated greater buy-in on the strategic direction for this high growth business.
