CONTEXT

A global Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Company had grown through acquisition, forming a large corporate which had a diverse business portfolio including the supply of goods to owner managed shops. The CPG Company had gone through a strategic review and wanted to divest a number of large divisions and needed to review its new operating model as part of a global business transformation.

CHALLENGE

  • Set-up an appropriate global transformation programme with a robust method across its brands and geographies.

  • Select a partner to deliver the programme that had global capability and industry expertise.

  • Define scope between what they would manage and how to appropriately hand over the design to the deployment partner.

  • Put in place an appropriate mechanism to manage their global partner.

APPROACH

  • Supported selection of a Systems Integrator based on capability and industry knowledge.

  • Developed a global governance model across multiple geographies and integrated with their off-shore delivery model.

  • Identified ownership of design and handover to the Systems Integrator for global delivery.

  • Developed the delivery roadmap for functionality across multiple geographies to reduce cost.

OUTCOME

  • Delivered a robust governance model to ensure delivery on time and on budget, with no cost over-run on a £1bn total budget for a programme delivered over 5 years.

  • Developed the new target operating model supported by multiple technologies.

  • Enabled shared service centres to be established across multiple geographies, with common financial reporting for each legal entity.
